The cities for the opening ceremonies are HELSINKI, TAMPERE and ROVANIEMI. A list of the tribes and the opening ceremony cities can be found here.
Contingents are responsible for arranging their own transport to their opening city. Roverway will provide transport from the opening cities to Paths, from Paths to the camp at Evo, and from Evo to the Helsinki and Tampere airports after the camp.
Getting here
Finland can be reached in a multitude of ways. Around 30 international airlines fly to Helsinki-Vantaa, the main international airport in Finland. Airines such as Ryanair also fly to other airports in Finland, such as Tampere and Lappeenranta. The Finnish national railway company VR has teamed up with Russian Railways to provide daily train travel between Helsinki and St. Petersburg. It is also possible to travel to Helsinki by train from Moscow. The Tallink-Silja and Viking Line ferry companies operate between Helsinki and Tallinn, Helsinki and Stockholm, and Turku and Stockholm.
School accommondation before and after Roverway
We have booked schools in Helsinki, Tampere and Rovaniemi for the two nights before Roverway and in Helsinki for the two nights after Roverway!
Accommondation includes sleeping on the school floor with your own mattress and sleeping bag, and washing facilities. Also, it includes the transportation to the opening ceremony, if the distance is too long for walking. Accommondation does NOT include meals or facilities for cooking. Contingents need to book the accommodation by the 5th of May.
Please note that Path-specific equipment lists will be delivered to the members of each Path by the Tribe Leaders.

Getting around in Finland
Public transportation is very well organized in Finland and moving around the country is possible both by bus and by train. VR operates the railway network in Finland, and various bus operators have combined their service information onto the Matkahuolto website. Finnish domestic airlines Blue1, Finnair and Flybe operate flights within Finland; also other airlines such as Norwegian fly within Finland. You may find it is easiest, cheapest, or most adventurous to use a combination of different modes of transportation: for example, troops making their way to the opening ceremonies in Rovaniemi can either fly to Rovaniemi airport, or travel to Oulu airport 250 km away and take a bus the rest of the way.
